The Significance of Protecting Art, Culture, and Artists

Wingstone Japan Foundation deeply recognizes the immeasurable value that arts and culture bring to society and is dedicated to their development and preservation. We believe that art is not merely entertainment, but a shared heritage of humanity and an indispensable element for creating the future.

Throughout the world, talented artists continue to inspire and provide insight through their unique forms of expression. Their creativity enriches people’s hearts across generations, offers new perspectives, and sometimes even has the power to drive social change. However, the creative process is far from easy. Artists often face various challenges, including financial difficulties, a lack of opportunities, and the proper preservation and succession of their work.

Our foundation addresses these challenges with concrete actions. We provide direct financial support to talented artists in Japan and overseas through sponsorships, creating an environment where they can focus on their creative activities with peace of mind. This allows artists to fully unleash their talents and produce higher-quality work.

Furthermore, we create opportunities for more people to experience art through our curation activities. By organizing special exhibitions, supporting art events, and publicly showcasing collections, we aim to introduce the universal appeal and diverse forms of artistic expression, fostering new dialogues between the audience and the artworks.

Art is an irreplaceable presence in our lives, honing our sensibilities, stimulating our imagination, and nurturing our humanity. Protecting the creators—the artists—and fostering an environment where they can express themselves freely is directly linked to protecting the spiritual richness of society as a whole. The Wingstone Japan Foundation will continue to believe in the infinite potential of arts and culture and contribute to their preservation and development.

Ayanoyaya

Introducing Artists Who Resonate with the Foundation’s Philosophy of “Protecting Life”

Ayanoyaya ☆

With the theme, “Bring back the original sparkle of your life, a fantasy that lights up the future,” Ayanoyaya creates art that sheds light on the unseen. Her creative journey began after a life-altering accident and near-death experience during her time in graduate school at an art university. The insights gained from this mystical experience are deeply connected to a life spent witnessing countless lives regain their inherent brilliance.

Her work is also profoundly influenced by the time she spent with her rabbit, who was with her for 14 years, and the dogs she shares her life with now. She has been deeply moved by the profound nature of animals, whose “very existence is healing and love.”

Her art features two-dimensional characters that represent her childhood memories of instinctively sensing invisible energy, her own being, and the existence of animals. These characters are designed to be a gentle presence that connects with your heart as you navigate modern life, evoking a sense of fantasy, much like the characters we all grew up with.

Countless undiscovered possibilities and senses for the future are dormant within this world and within ourselves. Each piece is created with the sincere hope that it will become a “catalyst” for lighting up a future for you and the world.
